Further Researches on the Closure of the Coronary Arteries

The closure of the coronary arteries was accomplished in my experiments by stopping the mouth of the artery in the sinus of Valsalva, or by plugging the branches with emboli composed of lycopodium spores, or by ]igation of the arteries on the surface of the heart. The first two methods were employed in twenty dogs. In each case the heart was promptly arrested. Closure by ]igation was done in sixty-seven dogs. The frequency with which the heart was arrested is shown in the following table :
